English

Share & Comment
Firstly, it is assumed that you are appearing for your Cambridge International Examinations O level English as a Second Language (code:1123) or equivalent for I.G.C.S.E.
This exam consists of two papers both allowing 1 h 30 mins.
The first being Writing, has two parts: Directed Writing & Creating Writing.
Directed Writing will be a report, letter or article, given 3-5 points to elaborate on with 200-300 words.
in Creative Writing, you will have to choose one from 5 topics and write in whatever way possible on that with 350-500 words, such as narrative (story) approach, descriptive, argumentative or informative approach.

This is your English language test not that how much information you do have, but at least some information you should have about the topic you have chosen, which you expand on.
In it your 'grammar', 'punctuation', 'spellings', 'paragraph linking' and 'good vocabulary( not very high but used in a proper context)' is tested.
So you should work on these things to develop skills to get and an A* in the exam.
Reading extensively will give you a lot of ideas but may not fix your grammatical mistakes as early as needed. That is what you need to brush up with your teacher or a serious guiding friend or else you can contact us if no teacher is available at your help.

Right!, the Second paper is Reading, that means testing your comprehension skills. It will have, according to new revised 2017 syllabus, 2 passages, one being an informative article and the other being a story.
From the informative article you shall be picking out main 15 points and write a summary of those in your own words, the you shall take out some 2-3 facts or opinions from the passage.
From the story, there would be roundabout 20 random questions, and finally you would pick out 5 difficult words in the passage and give their meaning according to the context. Here the suggestion is: Stay simple! write a simple meaning of the word, not in words you don't know the exact meaning of, as you can explain the word meaning in up-to 7 words!

To improve your comprehension, fix your grammar first by working sentences out under a teacher's proper guideline, then modern word usage by reading extensively about your favorite topics. If you need more help, contact us at muhammadshamoeel@gmail.com.

Then you're done with your paper 2 too!

Good Luck!
